Children’s Global Health Fund: Replatforming for a Robust Digital Presence

For more than six years, WebServes has had the honor of working with Children’s Global Health Fund (CGHF) – a 501c3 charitable organization with the mission to save the lives of vulnerable children and families globally by raising funds for and providing support to organizations improving family health in developing countries. One such organization is Clínica de Familia La Romana, which is a non-profit in the Dominican Republic. The clinic provides healthcare, education, and psycho-social support to vulnerable populations, serving more than 40,000 clients annually. Clínica de Familia La Romana is a national model for HIV and adolescent healthcare and emphasizes long-term sustainability to maintain critical services.

Our partnership began in 2018 when CGHF reached out to WebServes with a request for help on their WordPress site, specifically with PayPal donations. What started as a small project quickly grew into a long-term collaboration, and WebServes has been supporting their digital presence ever since.

The Challenge of Technical Debt

When WebServes first stepped in, CGHF’s website had been built by volunteers with the best of intentions but lacked the stability and security needed to support the organization’s growing needs. Over the years, WebServes managed to keep things running, patching up issues as they arose, but the site’s underlying issues — what web developers call “technical debt”— needed a more permanent solution.

As the organization grew, so did the demands on their website. The need to upgrade became even more critical as CGHF prepared to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the founding of Clinica de Familia on October 25, 2024 — a milestone marked by the launch of their capital campaign to build a new outpatient health center on recently acquired land in La Romana’s fastest-growing area. Clínica de Familia, in partnership with CGHF, had been instrumental in purchasing the land for this project, and the revamped website needed to reflect the significance of this initiative while supporting their broader mission. It was clear that a complete overhaul of the CGHF website was long overdue and essential to accommodate the scale of their expanding initiatives.

Replatforming and Reimagining the CGHF Website

In July 2024, WebServes began a redesign and replatforming project for CGHF, with a goal of stabilizing their digital presence, improving user experience, and creating a site that could grow with them.

  • A Fresh Start
WebServes’ first task was to address the foundational issues, and we proposed moving the site to a new instance of WordPress hosted on IONOS. This allowed WebServes to wipe the slate clean, getting rid of outdated plugins and unnecessary features that had accumulated over time. With the new installation, WebServes used Elementor Pro and a minimalist theme to ensure the site was not only stable but easy for the CGHF team to manage.
  • Content and User Experience Improvements
With the technical side mapped out, WebServes turned its attention to the site’s content and user experience. CGHF has a powerful story to tell — its real-world impact on the lives of families and communities in need. WebServes wanted to ensure their mission and impact was highlighted. We redesigned the navigation to make it easier for users to explore programs, get involved, and, most importantly, donate. The donation process was streamlined to eliminate friction and encourage more contributions.
  • A Collaborative Effort
Over the years, WebServes and CGHF have built a strong partnership, working together to meet the client’s challenges. This replatforming project was no exception. WebServes collaborated closely with CGHF to ensure that every step of the redesign reflected their mission and goals. From strategic discussions about content priorities to implementing immediate updates, it was a shared effort.

A Stable, Scalable, and Impactful Platform

The new CGHF website is a far cry from where WebServes started six years ago. With its stable foundation, streamlined content, and improved user experience, the site now serves as a powerful tool for organizational impact awareness and wider reach for fundraising.

  • Increased Stability: The replatforming has eliminated the persistent technical issues, ensuring a smoother user experience.
  • Improved Engagement: With clearer calls to action and engaging content highlighting their impact, CGHF is better positioned to connect with its audience.
  • Boosted Donations: The simplified donation process has made it easier for users to contribute, supporting CGHF’s fundraising efforts.
  • Future-Ready: The site is built to grow with CGHF, allowing for easy updates, new campaigns, and future improvements.

This project is just the latest chapter in our ongoing partnership with CGHF. As we look ahead, we’re excited to continue working together to support their mission of saving lives and improving family health around the world. By replatforming and redesigning their website, WebServes has laid the groundwork for future success, ensuring that CGHF’s digital presence can keep pace with their inspiring work.
